What Are the Different Types of Cannabis Topicals?THCa Lotions & Creams: Cannabis creams and lotions are versatile and available in everything from beauty products to body butters. Usually water-based, marijuana creams are thinner than other topicals to allow for faster absorption. THCa Ointments: Marijuana ointments contain more oil than creams and lotions, which means they’re thicker, stickier and ultimately take longer to be absorbed by the skin. Cannabis Balms: Balms contain various waxes, jellies or fatty oils, making these products very viscous. They create a barrier on the skin rather than immediate absorption. This is why balms are used on lips or for dry skin. THCa Tincture Sprays: Cannabis Tincture Sprays are produced with ethyl alcohol or coconut oils. Ethyl Alcohol is generally used in a cold soak production process and oils are generally made with heat. Alcohol Tincture spray has a tendency to work immediately because it breaks through the skin faster than oils which are thicker and alcohol also evaporates. Other Cannabis topical products include body washes, poultices skin balms, skincare serums and salves.

Do THCa topicals pass through into your bloodstream? Now, there is always exception to every rule, and that exception is cannabis lubricant. Because of the thin skin of the genitals, it is possible for THCa to pass into the bloodstream in small amounts. Since we do not produce these types of products, we do not have those risks with our topical sprays and creams.

Do THCa topicals get you “high” or “stoned”?It is almost impossible for THCa to pass from the topical spray and through the skin. You are very unlikely to experience any psychoactive effects due to cannabis topicals. Topicals do not generally enter the blood stream but there are unique conditions with all people.

How do you dose cannabis topicals?First and foremost, always read the label. This will help you understand the ingredients in your topical and how long they may be effective. In general, topicals can last anywhere from four to six hours on the skin (depending on a variety of factors). Using too much topical is likely not going to be as much of a concern to body health and wellness as smoking or ingesting cannabis would be. Still, start with a small amount. If you don’t feel the effects within an hour, apply more. Always test your own limitations with all cannabis products and research what cannabis can do for your health and wellness.

How long does it take THCa topicals to work? For a topical THCa spray to work depends on the cannabis use, the producer who makes it and the products that are used for that topical. For instance, products with all natural ingredients, could take up to an hour to become effective. Other topicals, particularly those that are designed for quick absorption, can be felt almost immediately. To know how long it takes your topical to work, test on your body for effectiveness and the amount of cannabis spray to use. Our product happens to work immediately on all body pain and anxiety depending on the extent of damage.
